Landschafts und Stadtfotografie - Fotoworkshops - Private Coaching - Fotos kaufen My name is Adrian Wirz, and I live in Gelterkinden, Switzerland. I am the webmaster and photographer of this website. I used to photograph the noise and speed of Formula 1. Composition wasn't so important back then. The key was to be in the right spot early enough. Shooting at dangerous spots right behind the guardrail was still possible and very popular in the 70s and 80s. Lenses lined up one after the other, waiting in the rain or the sweltering heat until the heroes of the asphalt thundered past. I'd advance the film manually, focus on the perfect spot, and wait. From 1982, I used a Minolta X700 with manual focus, and from 1988, a Minolta Dynax 7000i, which finally had automatic focus and film advance. By the mid-90s, it all became too expensive! Finding optimal spots for photography along the track was no longer so easy; everything was cordoned off. The whole scene had changed. So, I attended my last Grand Prix in 1995, and photography faded somewhat into the background. In the spring of 2011, I bought my first digital SLR camera: a Nikon D5000 with two lenses. A Nikkor 18-55mm and a 55-200mm. The very next day, I set off for the Bölchen mountain. This region has fascinated me since my youth. My first photographic attempts were rather modest in retrospect, but I discovered a love for landscape photography. However, I enjoyed wildlife photography even more at the time. Chamois were my favorite subjects! Through countless excursions, I soon learned where they frequented. Looking at my early photos of these beautiful animals today, I can't help but smile. That same year, I also created the website belchen-schweiz.ch, which was initially intended as a purely documentary site, but over the years has evolved into a dedicated photography platform. I fondly remember the first day in July in the Dolomites, when we experienced a truly magical atmosphere at the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, as well as the sunrise at the Cinque Torri; everything else was pure bliss. Or the morning in May at the Chapel Bridge in Lucerne. Even on the drive there, the faint clouds in the sky hinted at what might be in store for me. Unforgettable, of course, is the icy cold morning on Lake Neuchâtel during the brief cold snap in January, when the north wind blew at gale force and the water droplets froze instantly on the lens, camera, and clothes. Then, during our Matterhorn workshop, I was able to capture a classic image with perfect atmosphere: the Matterhorn reflected in Lake Stellisee. And, of course, the colorful and breathtaking autumn is unforgettable. The atmosphere during the sunset on Lake Geneva was simply fantastic. And last but not least, the four days in Berchtesgaden, when we waited two days for the snow, I fondly remember standing by the Maria Gern Chapel, waiting for the Watzmann to reveal itself. It remained shrouded in clouds, so I quickly attached my telephoto lens and focused entirely on the Maria Gern Chapel. Then almost everything came together perfectly. A fitting end to a wonderful year, filled with many new impressions, encounters, and memories! The order of the photos is purely random. If I had to choose one of the twelve photos to place at the top of my pedestal, it would be the photo of the Maria Gern Chapel in Berchtesgaden. Which one is your favorite? Then, of course, there were the four landscape workshops: Floral Magic, Matterhorn, Dolomites, and Belchen. We were fortunate enough to conduct all of these, except for the Belchen workshop, under fantastic conditions. A heartfelt thank you again to all the participants; I always enjoy being out in nature with photography enthusiasts. I look forward to many more encounters in 2018!
